Parent Connection

"The future of our children begins with us."

The mission statement for the Parent Connection is "to create an optimimum environment for communication between the school and parents."

It is our hope that parents will help make the school a true community and that this parent group will engage the students in positive activities outside the classroom , as well as during school hours, by sponsoring  diverse social and educational activities and programs.

All parents are automatically members of the Parent Connection and can freely participate in the committees and activities.  The Parent Connection's primary goals and some possible means for achieving them are as follows:

  • Facilitate communication between parents and administration
    • Meetings on topic of parents' choice that feature a speaker from the School, e.g. curriculum clarification, computer programming, homework policies, Student Life, etc.
    • Orientation for parents whose children are moving from lower school to upper school
    • Orientation for new students and their families prior to the first day of school.
    • Coffee time, informal dialogue and discussion with School administrators on a variety of topics
  • Provide more social, cultural and developmental opportunities for students
    • Grade-level evening events for students and their families, e.g. movie night
    • Cultural programs
    • Out of school volunteer opportunities in conjunction with the Student Life Organization®
    • Fundraising to offset some of the cost and thereby allow students to participate in afterschool events, e.g. car washes
  • Provide increased interaction among parents
    • Social events, such as: yard sales, mini carnivals, etc.
    • Family link-ups (matching families with compatible needs for car pools, emergency pickups, etc.)
    • Parent Connection meeting assistance (carpools to meetings, cooperative babysitting arrangements)
